# First connection

Access to the configuration interface of the *gateway* is done via a web browser (Chrome, Firefox or Edge recommended).

## Configuring your computer

To be able to communicate with the *gateway*, your computer must be configured on the same subnet as the device.

1. Connect your computer to the Ethernet port of the *gateway* (directly or via a switch).
2. Change your network card's IP settings to the following values:
   * IP address: `192.168.77.2`
   * Subnet mask: `255.255.255.0`
   * Gateway (Router): `192.168.77.1`

1. Open your browser and enter the default IP address of the *gateway* : `http://192.168.77.77`
2. The login page is displayed.
3. **Language** : Select your language (French/English) from the drop-down menu.
4. Field **Password** : Enter the default password: `admin`

## Account security (Required)

As soon as the first successful login occurs, the system requires you to change the password to ensure the security of your installation.

1. **Current password** : Enter `admin`.
2. **New password** : Choose a strong password of at least 8 characters.
3. **Confirmation** : Enter your new password a second time.
4. Click **Save**.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Once the **password is changed**, the session reloads. **Keep** your new password safe, because a **forgotten password** will require a "**Factory Reset**" to regain access.
{% endhint %}

## Date and time setting

We recommend setting the date and time of your gateway as soon as you first log in so that the data frames you receive are correctly timestamped.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://enless.gitbook.io/centre-aide/guides-installation/documentation-en/products/rx-lorawan/configuration/first-connection.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
