Best practices for installing TX LIGHT PIR T&H 600-062 sensor

The motion detection range of the sensor is illustrated below. Please note that actual performance may vary depending on environmental conditions. Do not install the sensor in locations exposed to direct or reflected sunlight. Installation near windows or HVAC vents (heating or cooling) should also be avoided.

For optimal presence detection in a room, we recommend installing the TX LIGHT PIR T&H 600-062 on the ceiling with the motion sensor facing downward. Under these conditions, presence detection within the room will be most effective. However, wall-mounted horizontal installation is also possible. Below, you will find best practices as well as detection ranges in terms of distance and angle.

Best Practices

Optimized Field of View

  • When installed on the ceiling, the sensor covers the entire room surface in a cone-shaped pattern pointing downward.

  • When installed on the wall, its detection area is more limited, covering only the space directly in front, with blind spots behind and to the sides.

Consistent Motion Detection

  • A ceiling-mounted installation provides a circular and symmetrical coverage area, ensuring motion can be detected from all directions.

  • A wall-mounted installation offers a more rectangular and flat coverage area, making lateral movements less reliably detected.

Reduced Risk of False Detections

  • Ceiling placement minimizes exposure to local variations such as drafts from windows, heating/cooling vents, or direct sunlight.

  • Wall placement makes the sensor more susceptible to these disturbances, as it directly faces such sources.

Optimal Height for Human Presence Detection

  • Installed on the ceiling, the sensor reliably detects full-body movements (arms, legs, walking).

  • Installed on the wall, the sensor may be less sensitive to slow or partial movements (e.g., a seated person moving minimally).
